Q&A Liboost®

Liboost® Q&A

I. General Information, Definition & Quality

Product Info About Liboost®
What is Liboost®?
Liboost® is a premium botanical extract made from natural Damiana leaf (Turnera diffusa). It is designed to improve sexual performance. It is distinguished as the first natural, unisex extract for sexual performance.
Where does the raw material come from and where is Liboost® manufactured?
The raw material comes from Mexico, and the extract is manufactured in Spain. The extraction process is controlled, and the facilities hold GMP certification as well as other quality and environmental management certifications.
What is the botanical name of the plant used and what part is used?
The botanical name is Turnera diffusa. The part of the plant used is the leaf.
How is Liboost® standardized?
Liboost® is standardized to ≥1.5% Liboonoides® by HPLC. Liboonoides® is defined as the biomarker complex of bioactive flavonoids found in damiana, which is responsible for its therapeutic activity. These compounds are quantified, ensuring a content between 1.5% and 3.0% by HPLC (dry basis).
What are the main groups of bioactive compounds in Liboost®?
The bioactive flavonoids include three main groups: luteolin glycosides, apigenin glycosides, and flavone aglycones.
What additional quality control is performed to ensure the purity of Liboost®?
Because dietary supplements aimed at sexual enhancement have the highest adulteration rates (over 95% of products are adulterated according to the FDA), Pharmactive includes an extra step in its quality analysis to test for the absence of sildenafil in every batch. This ensures the extract's homogeneity and prevents adulteration.

II. Dosage and Traditional Use

Usage Recommended dose & history
What is the recommended daily dose (RDD) of Liboost®?
The recommended daily dose of Liboost® is 300 mg/day. This is considered the lowest daily dose on the market.
What traditional information exists regarding the use of Damiana?
The use of damiana dates back many centuries. There are reports of its use by the Mayan civilization as an aphrodisiac and to treat "dizziness and loss of balance." The Aztecs also used it as a tonic believed to improve general health and well-being.

III. Mechanisms of Action

Science How it works
How could Liboost® help improve sexual response, according to characterized mechanisms?
Liboost® could act through at least three distinct mechanisms, according to in vitro evidence:
  • Nitric Oxide (NO) Release: Liboost® could increase NO release in endothelial tissue, which would promote vasodilation and help improve blood circulation.
  • PDE-5 Activity Inhibition: Liboost® could inhibit the key enzyme for cGMP degradation (PDE-5). This inhibition would induce smooth muscle relaxation. In men, this would result in penile erection, and in women, in vaginal smooth muscle relaxation.
  • Testosterone Level Balance: Liboost® could inhibit testosterone degradation due to its anti-aromatase activity, maintaining its levels. This would help maintain adequate erectile function in men and adequate sexual desire in both, men and women.

IV. Studies & Scientific Evidence

Research Clinical & lab studies
Does Liboost® have clinical studies?
Currently, Liboost does not have clinical studies. Clinical studies should not be confused with consumer studies.
What types of studies does Liboost® have?
Liboost has one (1) Consumer Study and three (3) in vitro studies.
What was demonstrated in the in vitro trials?
The mechanisms of action were tested in different in vitro trials performed on human cell lines:
  • The extract was able to produce a significant increase in NO release at 10 µg/ml in HUVEC cells.
  • It was also able to inhibit PDE-5 and aromatase at concentrations of 1 and 0.5 mg/ml, respectively.
  • The research study demonstrated that the standardized commercial extract, Liboost®, presents at least three different mechanisms of action for the potential improvement of sexual dysfunction.
What was the objective and design of the consumer study?
The main objective was to evaluate the beneficial effects of Liboost® on sexual health in both genders. The study was conducted on 60 healthy adults (30 men and 30 women), aged 25 to 60, who were in a stable relationship. The dose used was 300 mg/day for four weeks.
What parameters were used to evaluate efficacy in the consumer study?
Unisex and gender-specific questionnaires were used:
  • SDI (Sexual Desire Inventory) for men and women.
  • IIEF (International Index of Erectile Function) for men (evaluates erection, orgasm, desire, intercourse satisfaction, and overall satisfaction).
  • FSFI (Female Sexual Function Index) for women (evaluates desire, lubrication, arousal, satisfaction, orgasm, and pain).
What were the key results of the consumer study after 4 weeks?
Liboost® showed activity across all indicators:
  • Sexual Desire (SDI, evaluates interest in sexual activity with a partner and alone): A 45% improvement was observed.
  • Men (IIEF): There was a 40% improvement in the International Index of Erectile Function.
  • Women (FSFI): There was a 92% improvement in the Female Sexual Function Index.
What was the purchase intention and recommendation for Liboost®?
83% of participants (including men and women) would buy Liboost® after trying it for 4 weeks. 85% of participants would recommend it. Approximately 80% of participants would buy or recommend it.
